General Church Description

Southview Community Church is a new church in the Southview neighborhood of Medicine Hat.  In 2021 Southview Church of God began a partnership with the district (CCOGM) and East Side Church of God (Swift Current) to restart the church.  In September 2022 the church officially launched as a new church.  Our mission is to make more and better followers of Jesus.  Our vision is to be a church for the neighborhood: a church that is known, respected and meets the needs of those living in the neighborhood while helping people on their journey with Jesus.

Role Requirements

Community Life

Our vision to be a church for the neighbourhood drives us.  As a new church much of our focus is outward.  We are looking to build and grow relationships within the community and with the neighboring school.  A primary focus of this role will be to help create bridges for the church to get involved in the neighboring community and bridges for those in the community to find connection within the church through the various ministries

  • Build relationships with Southview Community School

    • Getting involved in areas of need and helping build a team of people to get involved at the school

    • Bringing areas of need to the church to help partner with the school in supporting families and kids

    • Team development - recruiting team members, training them to lead effectively and supporting them in the running of the various ministries.  As giftings and passion arise among church members, equip them and release them to start and facilitate ministries connected to the overall vision

    • Strategically plan programming to meet the needs of those living in the community

Family Life

Our mission is to make more and better followers of Jesus and this includes all ages.  The younger generations are not just the future of the church, they are also currently the church.  We want to be intentional about how we help them to encounter and journey with Jesus, helping to support parents in their role as primary discipler of their children.  The Pastor of Family Life oversees ministry to newborns through to youth plus each child’s family.

Currently this is not a large demographic within the church however we are investing into this position trusting that as we reach into our community and value families that this demographic will grow.

We want to be intentional about discipleship and are wanting to form this position in partnership with the successful candidate based on their passions and skill sets. Although the focus may be on one age demographic, there will still need to be intentional ministries available for the other ages and their discipleship.
